Walter W. Nelson ~ Photography & Painting

Walking into the predawn twilight of early morning on streets covered with abstract forms, I became aware of the shapes filling the cracks and voids with TAR. Using my iPhone, I took several individual photographs of different shapes and configurations.

Being a multi-disciplined artist working with abstraction forms I was overwhelmed with the end results of the images. Using the digital imaginary in Photoshop I was able to create these images, taking the viewer into another realm of reality.

This body of work incorporates 40 plus images.

Walter W. Nelson
An adventuring landscape photographer, with his 8' by 10' format Deardorff camera attached to a tripod hefted across his shoulder he strides out to capture vast landscapes. Nelson has spent his life scouring the globe for outdoor grandeur. Or! With the tiny camera of his i-phone he might be found leaning over into an abstract image that suddenly appears to him out of a tar repair, slapped on willie-nilly, on an asphalt stretch of road, from his series T A R . Nelson rounds up and brings us subtle beauty and surprises. He has an eagle's eye.
