A full-time studio potter, Truitt has for more than forty years been hand-building stoneware slab forms that reference the landscape and architecture. Trained in archaeology, particularly with an emphasis in Greek and Middle Eastern ceramics with training in re-assembly an curatorial work of ceramic fragments at The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Ma. Truitt has dedicated herself to the world of ceramics. She most recently has participated in residency programs in China and Mexico. For nearly 20 years she has also been active with Potters For Peace, an organization that helps women potters in the rural-north-west mountains of Nicaragua.
